Nurse Used Same Syringe On 67 People

Man receiving shot

When you seek treatment from a medical professional, you do so with the understanding that that professional is competent, responsible, and well trained. Unfortunately, this is not always the case.

Last month, a nurse hired by Nebraska-based healthcare company TotalWellness was accused of using the same syringe for flu inoculations on 67 different employees of Otsuka Pharmaceutical in New Jersey. Further investigation found that the nurse also administered improper doses of the flu vaccine.

Though the nurse did change needles between patients, it’s still considered dangerous to reuse a syringe on more than one person. Health officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said the risk of infection was low when reusing a syringe, but recommended the employees get tested for hepatitis B and C, and HIV.

If you or a loved one believes they’ve suffered a potential injury due to a negligent medical professional or facility, you may be entitled to compensation for medical malpractice.
