Recently, a chunk of ice from the top of a semitrailer crashed down into traffic resulting in multiple injuries. Officials say a large piece of ice struck and penetrated the windshield of a 2003 Honda Odyssey. The truck accident occurred near North Platte along Interstate 80. Tragedy struck Saturday morning when two Lincoln men were killed after their pickup truck collided with a tractor trailer south of Omaha. According to a story on NBC affiliate WOWT Channel 6, the victims were traveling east on G Road when they crashed into the semi at the intersection with Highway 75. According to a report by Omaha.com, the Saunders County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the first fatality of 2014 in the state of Nebraska.
The 34-year-old male victim of a car-semi truck collision died on January 3. Officials said he was driving on a county road south of Wahoo when he failed to acknowledge a stop sign. As he passed through the intersection, his Toyota Camry was hit by a semi driven by a 50-year-old woman.
The devastated Camry was hauled several hundred feet east by the truck before it came to a complete stop. Read the rest »
According to a report by JournalStar.com, on December 19, crews on the Interstate 80 finished clearing the debris from a disastrous semi-truck accident that killed a husband-and-wife trucker couple. The clean-up made it possible for state troopers to re-open the West O Street on-ramp.
The family members of the two deceased truck drivers were contacted by the authorities after the accident. The names of the victims will not be released until they are positively identified, said a State Patrol spokeswoman. Read the rest »
