Two Traffic Accidents on I-80 Kill 1, Injure 2

The first accident, which involved two vehicles, occurred around 6:05 a.m. on westbound I-80 between 36th and 42nd Streets. A 37-year-old man died in the crash and a 25-year-old woman received minor injuries. The woman was transported to the Nebraska Medical Center.

Police officials say that the woman drove her 2007 Honda Pilot into the back of the man's 1996 Buick Regal, which was parked on a median west of 36th Street.

Alcohol did not play a part in this tragic collision. At the time of the report, the investigation was still undergoing.

The second accident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of I-680 South and I-80 East and involved a single vehicle driven by a 24-year-old man.

Police officials say the young man was hauling a trailer full of construction equipment with his 2006 Nissan pickup truck. He failed to navigate a curve, causing the truck to lose stability and roll over. Both the truck and trailer left the roadway.

The man was transported to the Nebraska Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
